Fuengirola

The fact that it is only 25 km from Malaga airport is one of the reasons for Fuengirola’s popularity among foreign buyers. It is easily accessible by road, rail and bus, and its ever-expanding amenities have helped it become the cosmopolitan and lively town it is today, with a growing supply of prime Fuengirola real estate.

Although in past decades it was associated primarily with package tours, the arrival of tapas bars, cafes and upscale restaurants, along with a strip of designer boutiques, has repositioned Fuengirola in the eyes of many. Reforms, such as the redesign of its main square, the Plaza de la Constitución, are just one of the contributions to its modernization, although it retains its “old world” feel, as a stroll through its narrow streets around the main square will undoubtedly demonstrate.

One of the town’s main attractions is its seven kilometers of beach, stretching from Sohail Castle to Torreblanca, and it is famous for its stores, which have been expanded with the nearby Miramar shopping center, which also has a cinema.

Properties in the center of Fuengirola are always immensely popular, whether for permanent residence, vacation, or vacation rentals and are diverse in style and price range. In fact, you can see some examples on our website, as we also have a real estate agents office in Fuengirola.

Los Boliches

A former fishing village that over the years has been integrated into Fuengirola, this quieter place has earned a reputation as an ideal residential environment. It has a long sandy beach with several beach bars offering sun loungers, and there is no shortage of restaurants in the streets along the promenade. It also has a train station, and the train to the airport runs every twenty minutes from six in the morning until midnight, making it an ideal place for frequent travelers. In addition, Los Boliches offers a wide variety of types of homes for sale, which means there is something for everyone.

Torreblanca

Like Los Boliches, Torreblanca is another Fuengirola neighborhood with a train station connected to the airport. Its hillside location means that residents enjoy wonderful views, and the road up through the neighborhood is flanked by impressive villas. The area has retained its traditional Andalusian style in many parts, which is an advantage for many buyers, and is favored by many for its tranquility and proximity to good beaches, whether for vacation or permanent residence. In addition, there are stores and services nearby, and it is a very short drive to Los Boliches, or the city center for shopping.

Mijas Costa

Mijas Costa borders Fuengirola and covers a twelve kilometer stretch of coastline, and includes the increasingly popular La Cala de Mijas and Calahonda. Its two most popular urbanizations are Riviera del Sol and Sitio de Calahonda, and properties range from studios to magnificent villas with sea and mountain views. Golf is particularly well catered for in Mijas, the most popular being Los Lagos and Cerrado de Aguila.

Thanks to its magnificent beaches, water sports activities abound here, such as jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and much more. There is no shortage of restaurants and stores in this area, and there are several medical centers that cater to English-speaking residents.

La Cala de Mijas

This area deserves a special mention, as it is located in the center of Mijas Costa. There are schools, a health center, post office, stores, gyms and a cultural center, as well as many excellent bars and restaurants, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a lively market offering everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to local crafts, clothing, ceramics and pottery, flowers and plants. La Cala has also become famous for its restaurants with the opening of Olivia’s La Cala, owned by TOWIE partner Elliott Wright. Celebrity chef Steve Saunders’ Little Geranium restaurant has also raised the culinary bar at La Cala, and there is also El Torrejón and El Jinete for those looking for a more Spanish-flavored menu and setting.
